I love the way these Rim condoms look on the drums, and they do help save your sticks. If you play a TON of rimshots on your snare, they do eventually wear through. After about 18 months of abuse, I finally swapped my snare rim out for a wood one, but they work great on the rest of my drums.
Excellent quality and fast shipping. I got these as part of the full conversion kit and they are awesome. They fit snuggly and feel great. One of my complaints about the rims on most edrums is that the rubber gets so thick that I end up catching it sometimes while meaning to hit the head. These don't feel as tall as many others I've played, and they give realistic rebound compared to what you'd get playing on the rim on an acoustic set. They take just a little muscle to get on, but it's not terribly difficult, and because of that they stay solidly in place. Solid product. Good service. Good price. No brainer.
I did an extensive research on Rim Codoms from all over the world and learned that there are many good brands out there especially from UK and Germany! Aloha, I was tired to chip my drumsticks and damage in my drum heads. I bought 6 rim condoms first time in my life, very strong material, very well constructed, perfect fit, very easy to install, I love the look in my drum set, I hit the rim condoms very hard for testing and they are ultra tough and 100% silent, excellent for recording and playin live. I bought 2 (8"), 10" , 12" , 14" and 16". and they are inexpensive, when you see the product and feel it, you will love it. This is my honest review.
In my search for 1 piece rim protectors for my A2E kit, I ended up with two manufacturer choices.; Drum-tec or UFO drums. Pricing for both companies is reasonable. I own several Drum-tec products and love everything they do. But, I couldn't justify the shipping from Germany on a full kit rim protector purchase. So, I pulled the trigger on UFO thanks to the these reviews and Justin from 65Drums recommendation. These rim condoms are AWESOME! The fit is perfect and they look great. Well done, UFO!!
